Celebrating and protecting our freedoms
The Fourth of July holiday is fast approaching. I want to wish you and yours a safe and happy holiday weekend!
As residents of the United States, we have many freedoms to celebrate. But it’s also clear this country has some serious work to do in terms of ensuring access to affordable medicine, particularly for our seniors on fixed incomes.
In our last email, we told you about a recent confiscation of imported medicine in Chicago. We asked for your support in fighting this threat. Thank you to those of you who contributed and shared your stories! We’re heard of several other instances where personally imported medications were seized. We’re still investigating this matter and will keep you apprised of the situation.
Many elected officials will be in their home districts celebrating Independence Day at hometown events and parades. This presents a great opportunity to talk to them face to face and bring them your concerns about the cost of medicine. I urge you to ask them questions such as:
- What are you doing about the problem of unaffordable medicine?
- Do you support my right to import prescription drugs from other countries?
Please let us know if you have the chance to talk to your representatives, and what their responses are. As always, we pledge to keep you posted on this and other matters related to drug pricing. We encourage you to engage with us on Twitter and Facebook.
