I already get my medications from Canada. The meds come in the same bottle and are exactly the same as I would have gotten in the States. However, the price is 1/4 what I would have to pay in the States, so as far as I am concerned it is a no brainer for me. I have no health insurance due to the costs, which have risen beyond reasonable. Katie

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it so much cheaper to buy online?

It's simple: price fixing and governmental control. The same prescription drugs that we rely on in the US are cheaper to purchase everywhere else in the world. The pharmaceutical industry is fighting hard to make sure you can't buy your medications outside US borders. Prescription drugs in most other industrialized countries are 50%+ less expensive than in the US.

Is it safe to buy pharmaceuticals online?

Safety should always be your top priority wherever you fill your prescription. Things to verify when purchasing online:

» The pharmacy is licensed in Canada, with a legitimate pharmacy address listed on their website
» Verify that the pharmacy has a licensed pharmacist reviewing orders and is available for consultation
» The pharmacy should require the original copy of a written and signed prescription from the patient’s doctor
» Patients should verify that the pharmacy is dispensing name-brand pharmaceuticals from known manufacturers.

Would you expect any less from a pharmacy in your hometown?

Will the new health care reform act reduce the cost of prescriptions?

No. The price of drugs are staying the same or increasing. Some of the cost for medicare recipients will be discounted, but your tax dollars are still paying for the outrageous prices.

What are my congressmen and senators doing to ease the burden of paying for prescription drugs?

There are several members of Congress including Sen. Dorgan, Sen Kohl, and even Gov. Schweitzer from Montana calling to allow for importation of prescription drugs from Canada. You should call, fax, or write your representatives, congressmen and local politicians to let them know that you demand your rights to buying safe and affordable medications. What happened to the Canadian pharmacy ads on Google and other search engines?

Google has removed all advertisements for online pharmacies except for a hand full of US based pharmacy chains. This is most likely a result of the back-room deal with the White House made with PhRMA during Health Care reform negotiations. The deal protects their marked-up prices by cutting the lifeline between you and Canadian Pharmacies supplying the same medications at much lower prices. Bing, another mega search engine, has also blocked advertising and has censored its data by removing search results for online pharmacies.

How do I find a legitimate online pharmacy?

There are a few options for finding and verifying licensed online pharmacies. Make sure the pharmacy site you are reviewing is a real, brick and mortar, licensed pharmacy that clearly displays its business name, address, and contact information. A licensed pharmacist should be available to provide consultation to patients and
the patient should be assured that their personal and payment information is kept confidential. There are other important details to consider and good examples of
responsible practices are available at www.cipa.com or www.pharmacychecker.com.

How do I know that the pharmaceuticals I am buying are not counterfeit?

Just like your local pharmacy, licensed and regulated online pharmacies dispense prescription medications from the same name-brand manufacturers.

Do I need a prescription from my doctor?

Absolutely. Licensed regulated pharmacies will require the original copy of the signed prescription. If you buy from an online pharmacy that doesn’t require a prescription, you may be putting your safety at risk.

Can I buy generic drugs or over the counter medicines?

Yes. Many people like the convenience of getting all of their name-brand pharmaceuticals, generic drugs, and over the counter medicines with "one stop shopping" and home delivery.

Should I tell my doctor I want to buy pharmaceuticals online?

Always consult your physician when making any decisions about your health or medications.

Is my financial, personal and medical information private?

Yes. It’s important to remember that for regulated and licensed online pharmacies the Internet is only used as a point of first contact. Just like your local pharmacy, you will be dealing with a certified pharmacist who follows all the strict guidelines that meet U.S. regulations and are imposed by Canadian law.
