I survived a Liver transplant only to face a more ominous threat from the ill advised movement in Congress to ban Canadian med sales. Meds that are available at 50-80 % cheaper than US prices. Norman

Our Stories

We hear every day from people who use international pharmacies. They are people you know: your friends, your spouse, your parents, your grandmother, your brother and your child. They are people who are trying to maintain their health and balance their budgets at the same time.

Americans from every walk of life have had to tighten their budgets in recent years and make real, tough choices when it comes to where each dollar is spent. Some have even been in the unconscionable position of having to choose between paying for their needed medications and buying groceries for the week.

International online pharmacies help Americans to cut through big pharmaceutical company price fixing, Medicare red tape and health insurance loop holes to access name brand medicines at affordable prices.

The accounts below are real stories submitted to RxRights by real people who depend on continued access to safe and affordable medicines from licensed international pharmacies. We thank them for being brave enough to share their stories with us!

Testimonials

"I am on several medications for heart disease and high cholesterol. Four of the drugs are not available as generics in the US but are generic in Canada and all other countries in the world. I am presently on a total of 15 medications. I have ordered these four generic drugs from Canada strictly because of the huge cost savings. WHY AREN'T THESE DRUGS AVAILABLE IN THE U.S.A. AS GENERICS?"

Perry Foster

"I depend on the Rx drugs I order from Canada. I am retired and have AARP Complete Medicare insurance. The drug co-pays are extremely high, especially for some cancer drugs my wife takes. We have 14 prescriptions between us and without using the generic drugs we get from Canada it would cost $5,000 dollars more a year for our drugs. Between the "donut hole" and certain American drugs not being generic, this would make it really tough. I do not understand why Americans are penalized in order to protect drug profits!"

Charles Strencvk

"I resent the US government forcing me to purchase Medicare Part D for prescription coverage when I end up in the so called "donut hole" by early April. I cannot afford my medications in the US even at a 50% discount. My medications from Canada cost me 1/3 of the amount it costs in the US. If I can't purchase my meds from Canada like I've done for four years now, I will have to go without medications. I think it is terrible that 3rd world countries have the same medications for one third of the cost. Shame on America and the morons on Capital Hill."

Judy Taylor

"My son has severe acne on his face, chest and back. He has been under the care of a dermatologist since he was 12 (he is now 17). His current dermatologist has tried every medication available to get his acne under control. Every medication, that is, except for Isotrointin (known as Accutane). He finally, reluctantly prescribed it because nothing else has worked and he is concerned about the facial scarring he is seeing on my son. He hesitated to prescribe this medication because we do not have health coverage that includes prescriptions, so any costs for us would be out of pocket. Accutane costs $500/month, something that is out of the question for our family.

However, I was able to find a pharmacy in Canada that charged me $78/month for Accutane. Now my son can do something about his severe, facial scarring acne and we won't have to take our a small loan to finance his treatment."

Lori Walker

"I buy my cancer drug (Femara) in the generic form in Canada. The main reason for this is cost. I can buy the drug in Canada for $105.00 for a 90-day supply with the approval of my oncologist. The same medication in the US is about $400.00 for a 30 day supply. It also means that I enter the donut hole in my Medicare part D in about May or June [later in the year].

Having access to this means that this 3-time cancer survivor can, with access to Canadian drugs, afford a drug that can keep me alive to be with my family."

Yvonne Johnston

"My husband and I currently order our medications from a licensed pharmacy out of Canada, as we do not have health insurance. I simply cannot believe that once again this President and Congress want to take away my right to do business with a pharmacy that simply offers better pricing of our much needed medications! I plan on calling my elected officials to let them know what I think!!"

Mildred Palmer

"I am an unemployed senior citizen on a fixed income. I am not old enough for Medicare nor have any type of assistance for my meds. I rely on Canadian and international pharmacies for affordable medications.

One medication in particular would cost $428.00 per month if I used a US pharmacy. They cannot get the generic of this med due to delays. I can purchase the same med from a Canadian pharmacy in generic form. It costs $228.00 for a 3 1/2 month supply, including shipping. I brought the drug to my doctor who said it was the identical med and was safe to use only in generic. Had it not been for the Canadian pharmacy, I would not been able to obtain my much-needed medication.

It is sad that the drug companies and the lobbyists  make millions of dollars on the backs of poor Americans like myself. It needs to stop and it needs to stop now."

Testuras Almond

"I use Allegra which was previously available as a prescription drug. Now the drug companies have made it an over-the-counter drug and I am paying much more for it, and of course my prescription drug program doesn't pay for it since it is now not a prescription drug. So I am paying twice--once for the over-the-counter drug and again for the Rx insurance which I have to continue to fund for other prescriptions. It is obvious that the drug companies and the insurance companies are the only ones profiting from this, and I am absolutely irate to think it costs me at least twice as much to buy it in the U.S. No wonder people are looking for a less expensive way to get their necessary drugs!"

Laura Clang

"My wife and I are fully fed up with pharma, their lobbyists and pharma’s political bed partners in Washington telling us to bend over when we need critical medications at reasonable prices. We will fight against them vigorously with our vote and our voices and believe me we have a lot of company! We have talked to many people and we are all ready to fight on this subject as well as many others! Washington is getting too corrupt, especially when you see a good number of our so called leaders trying to shuffle the little guy and the elderly under the table. It is time for a big, big, big change in the way our government does business!!!"
