Elmer Brunk and his wife Cynthia saved $13,000 on their prescription drugs in 2012 by importing them from a legitimate Canadian online pharmacy. Elmer recently contacted RxRights because he wanted to share what they have learned with others. “I feel strongly that people need to be able to find affordable drugs and not have to make the choice between food and medication,” he says.

A few years ago, Elmer was struggling to figure out how he and Cynthia would afford their expensive prescription drugs. The Brunks have Medicare supplement coverage as well as Medicare Part D, but their out-of-pocket prescription prices were still too high. At U.S. prices, for instance, a cancer-fighting drug that Cynthia takes would land her in the dreaded doughnut hole within a few months.

A recent analysis by Health Care for America Now indicates that the 11 biggest drug companies made a whopping $711 billion from 2002-2012. And Big Pharma profits got a 34 percent boost in 2006—the year that Medicare Part D was instituted. In addition, big pharmaceutical companies continue questionable tactics, such as pay for delay deals, which allow them to squeeze the most profit out of blockbuster drugs. Meanwhile, millions of Americans are still struggling to afford the high cost of their needed medications.

You probably know that we've been collecting testimonials from people throughout the United States who are struggling to afford the high price of medication.

To further illustrate our point, we wanted to create some video testimonials, to show that these are real people with real stories. Unfortunately, professional video production is expensive and we didn't have the resources for it. Thankfully, some talented and industrious volunteers stepped up to help us.

With their assistance, we recently completed three videos. We are very pleased with the results and wanted to share the videos with you. Thanks to those who assisted with video production and those who were brave enough to share their stories on camera!
