I take 25 different medications a day and can't afford the Medicare drug plan or private insurance plans. The cost of U.S. pharmacy drugs is out of my reach. If I lost access to drugs from Canada and other countries, it would cost me my life. Edward

What is a Rogue Internet Pharmacy

posted Fri, 20 Aug 2010

We’ve heard the term “Rogue Internet Pharmacy” used with abandon in the media for several years. The term is loaded with negativity, right? The word “rogue” always refers to something bad, doesn’t it? These are illegal, unlicensed pharmacies that do a multi-billion dollar business selling controlled substances—narcotics mostly, and “life-style drugs”—Viagra mostly—on their Web sites without a prescription. The problem is, sooner or later, the term gets applied to any and all Internet pharmacies. The U.S. pharmaceutical companies LOVE it when this happens!

Yep, PHARMA would have you believe that behind every “door” to an Internet pharmacy there lurks a thug from an organized crime network, just waiting to charge up your credit card and send you some bad drugs!  With this image, the drug manufacturers can guarantee huge profits for themselves by creating fear and uncertainty about obtaining medicines from sources outside the United States while exploiting Americans by dramatically overcharging us. The exact same drugs sell in Europe and Canada at 50% less than we in America must pay! “Must” pay is what it amounts to—the top 20 drug manufacturers in the U.S. spend hundreds of millions of dollars every year lobbying against legal importation of drugs at prices that would give folks a HUGE break on their drug expenses!

Yes, illegal and unscrupulous Internet pharmacies are out there. They prey on the unsuspecting, send unsolicited emails and quoting reduced prices or products too easy to access.  But don’t confuse these for the real, safe international pharmacies.  Buy only from Internet pharmacies that require a written, signed prescription issued by a doctor that you have actually been seen by. Buy only from Internet pharmacies that are licensed in the country where they operate, and that sell only leading brand name products. And never respond to unsolicited advertising received by email from “pharmacies” with prices too good to be true. Don’t let those big PHARMA companies make your decisions for you!!
