Pharma wants to scare us about “counterfeit”

You may be able to save big bucks by ordering your prescription medicines online. Depending on your financial and health care situation, it may even be the only way you can afford them at all! While there are many reputable online pharmacies that can help you, and while many are located outside the United States, there are some special interest groups that want to convince you that drug reimportation is “unsafe” and all online pharmacies sell nothing but “counterfeit” drugs.
That is exactly the message that the pharmaceutical industry wants you to believe! “Big Pharma” fans the flames of myths like this in order to keep its monopoly on high-priced drugs in America! But guess what? In the rest of the industrialized world, Europe for example, people pay up to 80% less than we do for the same medicines, doing so for about thirty years with no safety problems! That’s right—no dead Europeans! Why do we think we know better, when our system is obviously crying out for reform and theirs isn’t?
Let’s take the subject of “counterfeit” drugs. PHARMA would have you believe that “fake” drugs, made in places like China or India (where they couldn’t possibly have any safety standards), are making their way into the American drug supply on a daily basis, threatening everyone’s safety. The pharmaceutical companies will do everything they can to keep you from finding out the truth! But what they don’t want you to know is that those very same drug companies are manufacturing perfectly safe and legitimate drugs in other countries, some for the U.S. market and some for international sale. They keep their production costs low and their profits high, high, high, by avoiding U.S. employment, safety laws, and paying workers almost nothing! The PHARMA companies sell those drugs to Americans at shamefully inflated prices simply because they are currently getting away with it! And the Food and Drug Administration— the good old FDA—won’t protect us; it’s been bought and paid for by PHARMA lobbyists. That’s right—you won’t get any useful facts from the FDA; they’ll just tell you, “Never buy drugs through the Internet! Especially from a foreign country.” In fact, a perfectly safe and legitimate drug sold in other countries might be deemed “counterfeit” here by the FDA simply because it was packaged in individual dosages rather than bulk or its label is in two languages!
The real counterfeiters, in reality, market to people who want to get narcotics without a prescription, or steroids, or other recreational or risky drugs without a prescription. They manufacture substandard or non-effective products and prey on the unsuspecting. Pharma wants you to believe that every drug sold online falls into this description to scare you and me into letting them continue to dominate the market.
Unfair? Without a doubt!! What can we do against these giants? Join our Petition. Don’t let PHARMA’s tactics persist! Use common sense, and you can safely avoid counterfeits. Order only from pharmacies that are licensed in their home country, require a prescription from your doctor (not theirs), and provide their address and phone number on their Web site. Never respond to unsolicited (“Spam”) emails from online pharmacies—the legitimist ones would never do that.
