Legislative Update

A recent review of Congressional action related to prescriptions and drug policy showed 47 Federal pieces of legislation pending. RxRights is monitoring this legislation. We’ve compiled a snapshot here of some of the more pertinent legislation as it relates to our cause.
S 3804: The Combatting Online Infringement and Counterfeits Act (COICA)

This particular bill has gotten a great deal of press in recent months. It targets rogue websites, theft of copyrighted and trademarked goods, and the counterfeiting and piracy of intellectual property (primarily as it relates the music and movie industries). This legislation will be heard on 2/16/11 by the Senate Judiciary Committee at 10:00 am EST.
