CIPA to take action against rogue online pharmacies
posted Wed, 12 Oct 2011We’d like to commend RxRights member, the Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA), for its efforts to protect consumers against rogue online pharmacies. CIPA today announced it is taking action against rogue internet pharmacies wrongfully displaying the CIPA certification seal on unapproved websites.
As the official accrediting organization for all online pharmacy advertisements on Google Canada, Yahoo! Canada and Bing Canada, CIPA member pharmacies follow strict safety standards. These standards include requiring a valid doctor’s prescription, obtaining demographic and medical information from the patient, having a licensed pharmacist on staff and having a physician review patient information before authorizing a prescription.
This issue is important to RxRights since we support importation of safe, affordable prescription drugs from licensed legitimate Canadian and other international pharmacies. Read the CIPA press release
