My blood pressure meds from a Canadian pharmacy are less than $1.00 per tablet. My pharmacist said no generic was available in the US and the Diovan would be $287.80 for a 60-day supply. Medical insurance is outrageous because it supplements the AMA and pharmacy lobbies. Frederick

Tell your senators: protect affordable drug importation before it's too late!

posted Mon, 25 Jun 2012

Despite our best efforts, the House of Representatives passed the reworked FDA reauthorization bill (S. 3187/H.R. 5651) last week. Now the bill is moving on to the Senate--set for a vote late today. We need a groundswell of importation supporters to help us get the Senate's attention now!

The secrecy with which the FDA reauthorization bill was finalized is nearly unprecedented and clearly bears the fingerprints of Big Pharma. Congress has turned a deaf ear to those of you who sent letters of opposition. Instead, they met secretly to push Big Pharma’s agenda to end safe drug importation as we know it. The consequence of this betrayal is that this virtual lifeline will be lost!

Corporate interests have taken hold in our legislative body and are actively legislating their own agenda! Congress has shown a total disregard for public opinion and patient lives. It's time to stand up and voice your outrage. It's time to tell your poignant personal stories about importation and what its loss would mean to you or your loved ones.

We've heard from countless folks who absolutely depend on access to imported medicine. Let's stand up to protect this virtual lifeline before it's too late! I urge you to use our easy, online system now to send emails to your senators! Thank you for sparing a moment to take action on this critical issue!

Sincerely,
