My wife, with Parkinson's disease, is the dreaded doughnut hole. A recent prescription would have cost us $565. I found I could fill the prescription through a licensed Canadian pharmacy for $49---from the same U.S. manufacturer! Mike

Minnesotans worry pending FDA bill prohibits imported prescription drugs

posted Fri, 6 Jul 2012

The media has been largely silent about the threat that the pending FDA Safety and Innovation Act presents to safe and affordable prescription drug importation.

We were pleased to see some news coverage out of Minnesota yesterday that illustrates how individuals who depend on importation may be impacted by the legislation. The news video features Lee Graczyk, our lead organizer, and Rico Anderson a longtime RxRights supporter who imports his prescription drugs. Rico saves over $600 each month by ordering his medication for Crohn's disease from an online Canadian pharmacy.

We are thankful for advocates like Rico who are willing to stand up to tell their personal stories. As more of these compelling stories get out to the general public, we'll continue to gain support for our cause. After all, not many can argue with the idea that everyone deserves access to medicine they can afford.
