Google Censors Online Ads
posted Mon, 22 Mar 2010
On March 1, 2010 Google changed their AdWords Policy regarding online advertising relating to all international, internet and mail-order pharmacies. This policy change affects the American consumer in a very negative way. Regulated and legitimate pharmacies that offer safe and affordable pharmaceuticals to American customers have lost their principal method of advertising.
The policy change at Google has had sweeping ramifications as other major search engines, including Bing, have followed suit. As a devastating development, it appears that Bing is beginning to “de-list” international pharmacies in their organic search queries. This manipulation of data has raised concerns about censorship and governmental interference. It is now next to impossible to find mail-order pharmacies on the major US search engines. Only a few pharmacies appear on Google, including Walgreens, CVS, and Drugstore.com, all major American companies with distribution ties to leading pharmaceutical manufacturers.
